KELLY MABRY

DIRECTOR

My name is Kelly Mabry, and I am the Director of the Glenn Guardian High School Dance Team. I’m thrilled to be teaching for LISD and I consider it an honor to work at GHS. This will be my twelfth year as an LISD director and I am excited about all of the amazing things happening here. I am proud to be a native Austinite. I grew up dancing all around the city, training in different studios, and serving as an officer of my high school dance team, the Lanier Vikettes. After that, I attended Kilgore Junior College where I became a world-famous Kilgore Rangerette (’94-’96). Through this experience, I was able to dance on stages around the world, from Euro Disney in Paris to the La Carnival in Nice, France. I even had the privilege of meeting some notable people, including former President George H.W. Bush and his son, who was the governor of Texas at the time. After Kilgore, I transferred to the University of Texas at Austin where I earned my B.A. in History. Throughout my career, and have over 16 years of Dance Team Coaching experience and have loved every moment. When I’m not coaching and teaching, you can find me at home in Liberty Hill, Texas, where I live with my wonderful husband and our blended family. Education and hard work are core values in our household – my husband, Bobby Mabry, is also in the field of education as the Executive Director of HR and Operations in Liberty Hill ISD. Together, we have four children, and Kassidy (19), Jacey (21), Grace (21), and Matt (25). They are the reason why I strive to be the best at what I do, always trying to be the type of teacher that I would want my children to have – compassionate yet challenging, understanding yet consistent. To me, dance is more than just a physical activity – it’s a powerful tool that can help students build their confidence, integrity, and determination. Every day is an opportunity to improve the life we have. Let’s start today!
